巴西馬托格羅索(Mato Grosso)熱帶雨林,原為深具價值的天蓬,而且是很多動植物種的天然棲息地,目前已遭到快速地威脅,在2001年到2004年間,有1, 334,369英畝的雨林面積已被剷平。根據最近馬里蘭大學研究人員彙整的報告顯示,砍伐雨林的罪魁禍首就是飼養牛隻的需求。美國科學作家傑瑞米雷夫金(Jeremy Rifkin)早在1980年代就已表示,在美國每消費一個漢堡,就有6平方公尺的雨林要被夷為平地,種植牧草餵牛。在砍樹建造牧場時,熱帶雨林也同時被摧毀,以生產豆類作物出口,供應歐洲的牛群。


根據聯合國糧農組織(FAO)的資料顯示,為牧場需求而剷除的森林地,每年製造5兆2,910億噸的二氧化碳排放量,這是最具威脅性的溫室氣體之一。據估計,巴西和玻利維亞在2010年以前,就有750萬英畝的森林地會消失。


地球不結冰的表面積上,目前有三分之一是養牛的牧場,而全世界有33%的可耕地是用來種植牧草飼料。飼養牲畜供地球不斷膨脹的人口食用是極度沒有效益的方式:每年為生產總計1,278億6,800萬磅的肉,必須種植1,697億5,600萬磅的食物餵養動物,這兩者之間所浪費的418億8,800萬磅食物,即可供數百萬的人口食用,而且數以百萬計的動物也能幸免於難。
根據另一項研究指出,森林砍伐對全球暖化效應影響極大,最多會使氣溫升高華氏3度。作物耕地對環境溫度上升也有顯著影響的傾向,牧場也是。相反地,熱帶雨林經由植物根部和樹葉蒸發水分,產生天然的清涼效果。這些地球上的「綠肺」,也吸收很多二氧化碳,並「呼」出氧氣,例如亞馬遜熱帶雨林,就製造全世界20%以上的氧氣。
這些研究結果已經明確顯示,為防制全球暖化和氣候變遷的後果,茹素是最有效的方法之一!何況還可以解救動物的生命!

Because if the ice all melts, if the poles all melt away, and then if the sea is warm, then the gas might be released from the ocean, and we might be poisoned.

  如果南,北极的冰层完全融化,接着海洋将变暖,然后有毒气体有可能会从海洋中释放出来.我们有可能因此而中毒.如果你们看过新加坡的演讲(1995年1月10日),我已经警告世界,必须改变我们的生活方式,否则将会太晚.那是在十或十五年前,在那之前,我总是警告我们不该滥垦,滥伐森林.吃肉等等,严重破坏我们的地球.



科学家提出许多警告,政府现在正在倾听.但我希望他们动作快一点,必须采取行动了.全球所有的政府现在真的认真面对这个问题了.我只是担心政府的行动可能太慢.



因为南北极的冰层,将阳光反射回太空.冰层现在融化的速度非常快,不足够反射阳光.而且因为海洋温度已经很高,将冰层融化.因为冰层被融化,导致海洋温度更高,你们了解我的意思吗?恶性循环.






依照现在暖化的速度,如果政府不解决,再过四到五年的时间,世界将会毁灭,这真的非常紧急.

Vegetarian diet mainly includes grains, nuts, cereals, seeds, beans, vegetables and fruits. Hence, it is rich in fiber, folate and vitamin C. Vegetables and fruits provide vitamins and minerals that are essential for a healthy body. Beans, tofu, seeds are some good sources of proteins. Vegetables consist of phytochemicals, which prevent some chronic diseases. Green leafy vegetables are the rich source of antioxidants.

Vegetables and fruits also provide natural sugars, beneficial enzymes and trace elements. It contains low amount of fats, cholesterol and saturated fats. As a result, it minimizes the risk of weight gain. This, in turn, reduces the possibilities of developing the health problems caused by obesity. Vegetarian diet is also helpful for healthy weight loss.

A vegetarian diet lowers the blood cholesterol levels and decreases the risk of various disorders such as high blood pressure, stroke, heart diseases, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, kidney diseases, gallstones and cancer. Due to intake of high fiber diet, digestive health is improved.

Vegetarianism protects you from certain food-borne diseases such as bird flu, mad cow disease, intestinal parasites, etc.
